Our Help is From The Lord

Watering the Tulips

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help?  My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth”Psalms 121:1-2

This verse should be etched in the mind of every child of God.  How often does it happen that we try everything in the world to get a problem fixed before we petition the Lord?  The Lord should always be the first resort for the children of God.  Yet, how often do we make Him our last resort?  Try everything in the world first – then…finally…prayer.

Our help comes from the Lord whether we realize it or not.  How often as parents are we watching over our children even when they have no idea?  Well, our Heavenly Father is a far better parent than we will ever be.  His Providence has guided our every footstep.  He has lovingly kept us from things that He knew we didn’t need.  He has wonderfully led us through issues that would have sent the most worldly wise of our times into panic.  Our help certainly comes from the Lord whether we realize it or not.  But, how much better is it for the believer to realize it?  Meditate on that wonderful thought!!

Have you ever considered that God never considered anything?  That may take a bit of contemplation for you to grasp.  But there are huge implications to that question.  God doesn’t consider things.  He doesn’t have to.  God doesn’t trivialize over situations.  Nothing has ever or will ever take Him by surprise.  He doesn’t fret.  He has gloriously prepared for the events that have not yet taken place.  Even before the Fall occurred, Jesus is said to be the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world”(Revelation 13:8).  The Fall didn’t take God by surprise.  He didn’t have to consider what He would do.  He was already prepared!!  Our same Father isn’t taken by surprise by our problems either.  Be comforted, child of God; the things which you are anxious about, He is not.  The things that trouble you do not trouble Him!!  Praises be to His name!

Do you really comprehend whom you are praying to?  As children of God, we have an open line of communication with the Creator of the universe!!  We are praying to the Maker of Heaven and Earth.  That in and of itself ought to give you some bit of pause.  From Him, we get our help.  It is even said of God that “in Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).  Our lives are in His hands.  Certainly, there is not a more secure place in all of Creation.  It is futile to look for help from a better source.

Child of faith, trust in the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind!  Take your petitions to Him daily.  Be confident in the fact that He works all things out for your benefit.  He is a far better Father than any of us could begin to be.  Thank Him even now for being there for you.
